With all our attention and popcorn focused on the Cowboys, we can't forget to keep one eye on those Carolina Panthers. They aren't a division rival, but they do hold the fate of an Eagles' first round draft pick in 2009.
And if things continue to roll "as is" well the pick is going to end up mighty low in the first round. After yesterday's 30-7 thrashing of the 'Aints, the Panthers sit with a 5-2 record, with the conference's #2 overall record.
The Panthers were able to survive, better yet, thrive during the suspension of Steve Smith. Jake Delhomme looks like the old Super Bowl Jake. And the Panther's D, well it looks like your typical dominant John Fox coached D.
So as the season progresses last year's draft day trade is looking anything like a steal. The Eagles traded away the 19th pick in last year's draft for second and fourth-round picks in the 2008 draft plus a first-rounder in 2009.
But hey, there is always a positive. With the 2nd rounder we received from the Panthers, the Eagles did select DeSean Jackson. He is definitely first round talent and Banner doesn't have to pay him like one!
