Follow the Run D to Victory

The numbers show that when the Eagles offense successfully runs the ball the result is most often a W. Not surprisingly the opposite holds true for the Eagles run defense this season.

When the Eagles stop the run, the Eagles usually end up victorious. To win this weekend the obvious key is shutting down Earth, Wind, and Fire. Unfortunately easier said than done.

In the Eagles 6 wins and 1 tie this season the Eagles have surrendered an average of only 63 yards on the ground. In their 5 losses the Eagles have given up a whopping average of 136 yards on the ground. This of course includes the 203 rushing yards at the hands of the G-Men.

Following the Week 10 loss to the Giants Jim Johnson admitted to scheming more to stop the passing attack of the Giants and not their run game. Well the results of that game and the season overall show that the Eagles would be wise to game plan against the run this weekend. Again, easier said then done.

And it might just be me, but if the Eagles are actually going to run off 4 more wins this season I have a heck of a lot more confidence in the defense being the catalyst than the offense. The offense is just too streaky to warrant full faith in carrying out the impossible. The D, well I can honestly see them rising up to the challenge!
