Kevin Kolb...Is It Over?

There is no QB controversy. McNabb is the starting QB, the best QB on the Eagles roster, and at times he is still an elite QB in this league.

But what happens if McNabb were to go down with injury. Yea McNabb made it through this past season without injury, but such an occurrence was the first time in the past 4 seasons. What happens is that the Eagles are going to need Kevin Kolb.

And though his performance may not warrant our faith, I think we all might be jumping the gun a bit in our labeling of Kolb as a bust. Sure he could be garbage, but can we really make an honest evaluation about the guy after only 34 pass attempts?!? Oh yea, 23 of those attempts came against the Ravens' #2 ranked Defense when Kolb wasn't even expected to play!

Did we write off McNabb when he finished his rookie season completing less than 50% of his passes, had a QB rating of 60, and the team won only 2 of the games he started? Nope, we gave the guy a chance and we were rewarded with a lot of wins.

So as we enter the off-season thinking that a successful 2009-'10 season is only a few upgrades away let's give #4 a chance. We just might need the kid next season.

I totally agree that we cannot jump the gun on Kolb. I think it was a huge mistake on Reid's part to throw him into a game that he had not prepared to play in and also against a top ranked D!!! Talk about shattering a QB's confidence!!!! Kolb will be good in time, just how long will it take is the question?? If McNabb were to go down, we would be in trouble as it stands now... EAGLES need to go and get a number 1 WR!!! You can truely gauge how good McNabb is b/c all of his success has come without a true #1 receiver. Look what happened when we got TO, SUPER BOWL! We need to go get Housh, Boldin, Ocho Cinco, or any other number 1 available.

Whatever man. Dude is garbage pls. Every backup QB showed what there were made of whenever given the opportunity. The fact of the matter is he should sit down on the bench until Donovan is done in Philly. It is as easy as that. I dont care if we go 4 -12 next season. Donovan gives us the best chance to win. When Aaron Rodgers came in for Brett in the Green Bay game, he performed against a very top team in the cowboy stadium. Same can be said of Romo. Do u remember the browns game? This idiot threw an inerception to the cleveland browns with less than 5 mins to go. He should sit on that bench as long as possible.

Let's put it this way. The success rate of first round QB's in the NFL is minuscule at best (see: Tim Couch, Akili Smith...I can go on..). To put your franchise's future in the hands of a second round pick was a risky move and it very well may pan out to be a piss poor one. The fact that we have achieved this much success from Donovan with a mediocre receiving corp (at best) is a testament to not only the tremendous talent of Donovan, but also to the incredible luck we have experienced my having him pan out the way he has. Fact: he is the most successful QB in Eagles history in pretty much EVERY statistical category and to all the buffoons who are trying to run him out of town, you can take this one to the bank: If Donovan leaves and goes to Chicago, he will win rings and we will have a 2nd round pick throwing to Desean and a bunch of 3rd option WR’s.

I haven't totally given up on Kolb but I gotta say what I have seen from him so far has not been positive. The major thing I don't like about him is his mediocre arm. He doesn't appear to be all that big either.
